The Three Villages Forum is a partnership between Tarbolton Community Council, Annbank Community Association, and Mossblown Matters, established to promote inter-village collaboration. The group seeks to bring the communities together by exploring the connected ancestry and history of the three villages.
At the group’s first meeting in Tarbolton, it was uncovered that the village used to have a newsletter known as “The Tarbolton Times” in the 1980s. The community agreed that it would be a beneficial resource to revive in modern times, to not only unify the communities under one resource, but also to deliver consistent information and news to those who may have limited access to the Internet, or who are isolated in the community.
The revived newsletter, encompassing news and information for the villages of Annbank, Mossblown and Tarbolton, will soon be launched under a new name: “Oor Villages”. The group’s mission is to make news and information accessible for everyone across the communities of Annbank, Mossblown and Tarbolton.
The resource will feature updates about upcoming village events, local news stories, and key resources such as local transport information. It will also bring back old and popular elements of the classic ‘Tarbolton Times’ newsletter, celebrating community birthdays and achievements through local submissions. The ‘Oor Villages’ newsletter will, upon publication, be available for purchase in local stores with articles also available in an online format.
The Oor Villages team is looking for aspiring authors and impressive illustrators to join a growing team of volunteers – all ages encouraged! The group is recruiting for a wide range of exciting roles, such as Journalists, Illustrators, Social Media Volunteers, and even Transport Correspondents.
Oor Villages’ Editor-In-Chief, Jacob Henry, shared: “There is no better time to join the ‘Oor Villages’ team while it is still in its initial stages. This is an exciting opportunity to celebrate your local heritage and to develop skills that will prove useful in the future. Why not try something new?”
If you are interested in getting involved with the Oor Villages project, contact the project’s Editor-In-Chief, Jacob Henry, via email at help@threevillagesforum.com or visit your local library for more information.
